Mo' Money Mo' Problems
After reading the article, I was kind of annoyed because I do not agree with it at all. Well, maybe to some extent but I do not believe it all. When I was younger I did not have a lot of money and I was still in the Gifted and Talented classroom for 2nd and 3rd grade and only got out of it because I moved and my new school did not offer it. Not to mention, was told when I 4 and ready to enter Pre-K, that I was "too smart" for kindegarten. Just like many people in the class have said, it comes down to parental involvement. If a child is doing nothing but sitting in front of the tv all day after school waiting for some adult-interaction they are not working their minds as much as a child who has their parents pick them up from school. People are talking about single head households... that is what I grew up in and my mother still made sure we were doing our homework and doing it correctly at that. We were not allowed to do anything until all of our work was complete and Heaven forbid we want to miss a day of school. If we were not running 102.7 degree temperature... we were IN SCHOOL! Parents are more to blame for the huge gap in the knowledge and learn than money. Broke people, like me learn to accommodate their lifestyles to what they can afford and train their children in the same way. In my opinion, money has nothing to do with it!
